Detailed Description

Defibrillators; These are devices that save the patient by returning the heart to normal sinus rhythm in case of vital cardiac anomalies such as asystole or fibrillation, and do this by passing a short-term but high-capacity current through the patient. Defibrillators are devices that can increase the energy they receive from the batteries they carry, up to 360J within seconds, through amplifying circuits. Defibrillators are divided into two in terms of electrical conduction; monophasic and biphasic defibrillators. While monophasic defibrillators transmit current in the positive phase, that is, unidirectionally, biphasic defibrillators transmit it in both positive and negative phases, that is, bidirectionally. One of the vital issues here is that the current sent is sent asynchronously with the T Wave so that it does not cause ventricular fibrillation. Today, most defibrillators achieve this with an ECG-based algorithm called Cardioversion. Another defibrillator that is becoming more common day by day is AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator). AEDs are used mainly in public areas; factories, schools, museums, universities, offices, public buildings, etc. These are automatic defibrillators located in areas with high human population and traffic, such as. AEDs are designed to operate when needed, keeping the user's liability to a minimum. Once activated, an AED helps resolve the situation by guiding the user using audio and visual guidance and delivers current to the patient via pads at a predefined value for pediatric and adult patients. AEDs primarily determine whether the patient needs this current through a rapid ECG analysis and, as a result, deliver a shock. In this way, semi-autonomous AEDs are one of the barriers that stand between us and possible deaths or permanent brain damage.
